A bold new approach to pharmacy is here. At Abarca, we live to bring a better experience to our members, which is why we created the Off-Road Pharmacy Program, an educational initiative launched by our pharmacy team providing news, resources, and opportunities to our partners, Abarcans, clients & community pharmacists.
The program will also include a series of online and in-person workshops that serve as continuing education for community pharmacists as we recognize their vital role in achieving a better way in healthcare.
Our team has concluded the recording of our first CE course on “Drug Utilization Management Tools (DUR),” which will be available to all community pharmacists starting in March through the Colegio de Farmacéuticos de Puerto Rico website and valid toward one credit. Abarca is the first to use this innovative and revolutionary technology offered by Colegio and we are excited to begin this collaboration.
The DUR online course offers a unique opportunity to learn more about the role of Drug Utilization Management Tools and strategies in managed care and drug safety use, as well as the responsibilities of the pharmacist and technician in the process.
At the close of last year, we asked community pharmacists through a survey what courses they would like most to see offered through the Off-Road Pharmacy Program, and we’re using this valuable feedback.
Stay tuned to learn more about this new kind of pharmacy and upcoming Continuing Education courses. We expect that before the close of Q2 2020, our second online course on the subject of Adherence will be recorded and available online. We have also recently hired two full-time Educators and Service Providers to serve as an extra resource to our community nurses and doctors.
We thank you in advance for your support in making this innovative program a success and for finding better ways to make healthcare awesome for our patients and members.
