Meet an Abarcan: Sonymarie Socarrás, SVP, Strategy to Execution

Apr 2, 2024

At Abarca, we’re on a mission to make healthcare seamless and personalized for everyone – and that starts with our employees. We spoke to Sonymarie Socarrás about how the Strategy to Execution team is making project management and process improvement more tailored and effective.

Seamless and personalized healthcare starts at home. How does your team make processes more seamless and personalized at Abarca?

The Strategy to Execution team supports Abarca’s leadership in translating the company’s mission into actionable initiatives that enhance processes and drive innovation.

But we don’t leverage typical project management or process improvement. Our team serves as business partners who collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities to streamline projects and workflows, optimize resources, and make the services we provide internally more personalized.

Do you have any tips for how other organizations can take traditional approaches to project management and make them more personalized?

Organizations need to embrace adaptability and establish a “flexible structure” that tailors project management approaches (hybrid, agile, waterfall, etc.) to fit the specific needs of each initiative and team.

Additionally, organizations should evaluate how project managers partner with internal stakeholders, incorporate dynamic prioritization to adjust to shifting needs, and implement adaptive planning practices.

And, by cultivating a culture of continuous learning, organizations can better adapt to changing business landscapes and deliver personalized solutions to meet evolving needs.

Often, personalization is seen as being in opposition with efficiency. Do you think that is true or can we have both? Why?

These ideas are not mutually exclusive, and I believe that both can be achieved at once – particularly if with the right technology and data.

Automation can also be leveraged to free up resources to focus on higher value-added activities while delivering customized solutions at scale. And iterative improvement processes can maximize operational performance and foster innovation.

How does personalization provide a better experience for end-users (whether they be employees, clients, consumers)?

Personalization makes user interactions not only more relevant, efficient, empowering, engaging, and satisfying – it also fosters stronger relationships between organizations and their stakeholders.

Similarly, when applied to internal services, personalization is critical in ensuring initiatives can meet specific needs, optimizing efficiency, and empowering team members.

Is there anything that Abarca is working on right now that you’re particularly excited about?

Absolutely! In particular, we are working to expand our team’s service offerings by incorporating “utility players.” These individuals possess a diverse skill set and are fully empowered to lead and coordinate efforts across the organization, helping to address complex challenges and advance key initiatives with agility and precision.

This strategy also empowers us to accelerate the execution of strategic initiatives and foster a collaborative culture that drives positive change. I’m eager to see the impact it will have on Abarca’s continued evolution.
