Abarca’s home delivery pharmacy solution, TripleS en Casa, was selected as one of five finalists for the 2021 PBMI Innovation Challenge. The Challenge was created to identify new and innovative concepts in pharmacy benefit management that can help stakeholders improve both clinical and economic outcomes.
Abarca believes that by empowering members, we can help them navigate their healthcare and lead healthier lives. So, in 2020, we launched TripleS en Casa as a mobile app that leverages patient data and a user-friendly interface to deliver a better member experience.
In a presentation at last month’s PBMI Annual Conference, Coral Cotto-Negrón, Product Manager of Clinical Products and Services at Abarca, began by detailing the development of this app, which started with Abarca’s innovation design thinking process and user research. This allowed us to focus on members’ most critical priorities, including ordering medications, receiving automatic discounts on prescriptions, and managing medications for family and people they care for.
Coral also shared that the app has garnered high levels of adoption and satisfaction. For example, pharmacy claims among app users have increased 355% since 2020. This could, in part, be a result of better medication adherence. We have also achieved a Net Promoter Score of 64, higher than industry standards.
This app was created to evolve as patient data becomes available and interoperability improves across healthcare. For example, our team is currently working on features that would allow users to communicate about their medications with prescribers and plans.
