Company Aims to Drive Innovation in Healthcare and Technology from Puerto Rico
Recapping Abarca’s grand Oasis Santurce Inauguration (3/13/2025)
San Juan, PR – Abarca Health has inaugurated Oasis Santurce, an urban campus in San Juan developed with a $30 million investment to strengthen innovation in the healthcare and technology sectors in Puerto Rico.
Abarca Health’s CEO, Jason Borschow, stated that the new headquarters will serve as a collaborative hub for local talent, businesses, and organizations seeking to transform the healthcare industry through advanced technology solutions.
“Oasis Santurce, in addition to being the headquarters of Abarca Health, is becoming a space where creativity and technology will come together to develop the next generation of healthcare solutions. With this investment, we reaffirm our commitment to Puerto Rico’s economic development, creating new job opportunities in technology and healthcare and strengthening our position as an internationally recognized innovation center,” expressed Borschow, emphasizing that this space marks a new chapter in the company’s evolution in Puerto Rico.
Oasis Santurce is designed as a meeting point for strategic sectors, fostering partnerships with high-impact innovation organizations such as Red Ventures, Xtillion, and Endeavor. Its facilities include collaborative spaces, specialized areas for healthcare technology research and development, and an environment that aims to empower the island’s entrepreneurial community.
Beyond its impact on the technology sector, the campus also integrates cultural and creative spaces. The site houses the Café Teatro Shorty Castro, home to Teatro Breve, as well as an urban art exhibition featuring murals by Puerto Rican artists such as Andrés Cortés, Colectivo Moriviví, Javier Cintrón, Ekosauro, Ostomatic, Sergio Stuff, The Stencil Network, The Unusual Group, and VeroVero.

Sebastián Negrón Reichard, Secretary of the Puerto Rico Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC), highlighted the importance of such initiatives for the local economy. “Abarca Health showcases the potential of Puerto Rican-based companies to lead in technology and healthcare. Investments like these not only drive economic growth but also position Puerto Rico as a leader in healthcare innovation and development.”
The inauguration event gathered over 100 leaders from the business, technology, and healthcare sectors in Puerto Rico and the United States, who explored the campus’s impact on the industry and its potential to transform the regional healthcare sector.
Abarca Health Celebrates 20 Years of Expansion and Investment

The opening of Oasis Santurce coincides with the 20th anniversary of Abarca Health, a company that has expanded its operations in the pharmacy benefits industry through technology and a business model based on efficiency and transparency.
According to Borschow, since its founding in 2005, the company has developed platforms like RxTarget, focused on improving treatment adherence through artificial intelligence, and Darwin, a technology platform that optimizes pharmacy claims processing. In 2025, Abarca will surpass $14 billion in annual pharmacy benefit management, expanding its presence with clients in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, including Blue Shield of California, First Medical, MMM, PerformRx, and TripleS.
Borschow emphasized that with nearly 900 employees, the company has experienced sustained growth and continues to invest in innovation. “We will continue to invest in technology and talent to deliver solutions that optimize pharmacy benefit management and enhance the experience of patients and providers.”
