One year ago, we opened Oasis Santurce, a $30M investment designed to be more than a headquarters. In practice, Oasis Santurce has become a living platform: a place where teams work, neighbors cross paths, and ideas move faster because they’re happening in the same room, on the same block, in real time.
That’s the point of an urban campus. It isn’t a building you commute to and forget. It’s a space that breathes with its surroundings. A place where culture isn’t “nice to have,” but a daily ingredient of how people think, collaborate, and feel. We called it Oasis because we wanted it to function that way, for Abarcans, for the community around us, and for the high-impact organizations that need a setting where conversations turn into action.
A platform for connection that actually leads somewhere
Over the last year, Oasis Santurce has evolved into a home for convening, intentionally. Oasis Connections became the anchor: four seasons of candid, off-the-record conversations designed to connect Abarcans with operators who build, lead, and ship. The guest list has ranged across industries and mindsets, from Ignacio Álvarez to Tony Navarro to Peco Suárez, leaders who have navigated scale, complexity, and reinvention in their own lanes, and who show what it looks like to do the work with discipline and purpose.
But leadership conversations only go so far if they stay on stage. That’s why we created Oasis Mixers, because relationships deepen when teams meet. Across three editions, we’ve brought together employees and collaborators from 20+ companies and entrepreneurship organizations, not for abstract networking, but to make warm introductions, share context, and set up the next meeting that actually matters.
Oasis Santurce has also served as a venue for ecosystem programming, hosting sessions with organizations like Endeavor Puerto Rico and the FWD Movement, and welcoming communities focused on entrepreneurship and growth. Most recently, Oasis Santurce hosted Abarca Forward, bringing 150 healthcare leaders together for three days of discussion, collaboration, and shared momentum. The signal wasn’t “we hosted an event.” The signal was that spaces can shape outcomes when the environment invites people to stay longer, talk deeper, and connect beyond the agenda.
Why art belongs in the same sentence as innovation

This is where the Oasis Art Program comes in. At Abarca, we don’t treat art as decoration. We treat it as part of the operating system, because creativity isn’t separate from problem-solving, and culture isn’t separate from care.
The program integrates Puerto Rican art into everyday life at Oasis Santurce in three very practical ways. First, twelve murals in our stairwells with site-specific works designed to humanize routine movement and encourage people to take the stairs more often. Second, Art in Our DNA, a book that documents more than 20 Puerto Rican artists represented through commissioned works and campus installations. Third, a series of conversatorios on urban art that bring artists, curators, and the community into direct dialogue with our teams so art isn’t something we pass by; it’s something we engage with.
The impact isn’t abstract. A more inspiring space changes how people show up. It reduces stress. It increases belonging. It creates frictionless moments of joy amid demanding work. It gives teams a shared reference point beyond spreadsheets and meetings. In a healthcare company, that matters.
A public piece, a neighborhood mirror

This week, we take the next step by moving outside the building. The new façade mural by world-renowned Puerto Rican artist Bikismo is a gift to the neighborhood, not only because it’s beautiful, but because of what it says.
A chrome caterpillar is a bold choice. It’s a reminder that the transformation is already happening, even before the butterfly arrives. It reflects Santurce back to itself—literally—and invites anyone walking down Ponce de León Avenue to recognize the value in the process, not just the finished product.
That’s the story of an urban campus, too. You build it to host the future, yes, but also to honor the present. To be a good neighbor. To create a place where art, community, and innovation live together without trying to separate them.
Because in the end, this is what Oasis Santurce was built for: not just work, not just events, not just murals, but a platform that makes connection easier, creativity more visible, and collaboration more natural.
